For consumers who enjoy going out on the town but want to save money in the process, there are a variety of options available. Free entertainment options are available to consumers for movies, concerts, plays and comedy shows, dining out, and craft fairs. Many of these options are part of special promotions for new venues, restaurants or theaters, while others are to promote the latest hot menu item or musical sensation. Sometimes free entertainment options may be more plentiful during certain times of the year.

Consumers looking for free entertainment can start by searching their local newspapers or television access stations. These are some of the places companies may market and promote their free entertainment. Radio stations are also a great resource for free entertainment on the local and regional level. Websites devoted to entertainment freebies may also help direct consumers to the best places to be entertained for free.

Free Online TV and Movies

Some movie streaming services offer a free selection of films to choose from. Typically, viewers will need to watch commercials before the movie begins. Hulu allows viewers to watch some content for free, and also offer a free trial of their paid services for more movie options.[1] Netflix is another company that offers a free trial membership.[2]

In addition, networks such as NBC allow viewers to watch full episodes of their current programs.[3]

Target Free Events

Big-box store Target sponsors a number of free family entertainment events across the country. Examples of events include the free family matinee at Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre, free entry every Sunday at Los Angeles' Museum of Latin American Art, and free entry to the Atlanta Children's Museum on the second Tuesday of each month.[4]
